Behind the Black Square.

Interpretation of Malevich's Black Square
June 2009

Behind the Black Square

The original Black Square, in essence, represents the conceptual values of suprematism and constructivism. Through the perfectionism of the shape a the contrast of the colours, the author represents the purity, a new beginning. However after this, at first sight, geometrical simplicity, the whole movement owns a powerful net of ideas, social changes and influences, technological advances etc. Therefore this particular piece represents this “new beginning”, as a black box full of of changes, ideas... in essence, the Revolution.
Due to the important relevance of the technological advances of the movement, the new media must use this technology in order to enrich the message of the piece.

Therefore in this case the final outcome is an interactive installation, where the audience can interact with this interpretation by stimulating the 'Black Square'.

Nexus Between Sexuality & Power
14 February 2009

Nick Zed / Ecstasy In Entropy     The Cinema of Transgression

Over the years, there has always been a single accepted way of understanding sexuality where there is not place for other approaches, which incorporate unusual techniques searching for gratifying sexual pleasure. However, thanks to a small collective born in New York, an innovative manifestation of sex and violence was brought to the big screen in the 1980s. Shocking the audience by combining explicit sex with extreme violence, this genre gave representation to those who had been excluded because they deviated from the standard.

Your Holidays Country
April 2009

Ibernation

This project is a satirical exposition of the identity and promotion of an invented new country. The concept behind this project is based on two pillars. On one hand, a way of of tourism which do not care about visiting the country at all, a tourist who does not have any interest in the culture, origins, language or costumes of his holiday destination.   A person who just cares about staying inside an “all inclusive” enclosure, enjoying the sun and a parcel of beach. And on the other hand, governments who doe not care either about their own culture or land. All this, results in places where everything is for sale to the prolific business of tourism.

Generations Project / Wine Time
February 2009

This project seeks to explore the nexus between generations and its relevance in evolutionary aspects. The interest is centred in the physically connected generations and how they influence each other. Previous generations are giving their legacy to the next one: trends, knowledge, experience, advances, etc. However this interchange of influences is cyclical. These physically connected generations are being influenced by others, generating a reciprocal switch of information. As a result, I understand that these combined generations work together with the same purpose, sharing time and space.   The sharing of time and space is reflected in knowledge, customs and culture. This knowledge is symbolised by the wine, being this a traditional product which bases its essence in the land (space) and the age (time).

This experimental typeface expresses, through wine stains, the time that we spend with our generations around the table and, by using a traditional product, it emphasises the idea of sharing culture, tradition and knowledge through a traditional custom.

DeManifest is a creative platform with the purpose to present the work of non conventional artist. There is an incredible amount of artistic vibe in the city of London, where many 'artist', for different reasons, find their way to survive through other employment without any artistic relation.   Find and get the possibility to work with this particular collective, are the first aim of DeManifest. Freshness and passion plus the completely freedom in the way of this artists work is the the approach of Demanifest.
